About the company/role:
We are currently seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our client’s pilot-plant at their stage one precursor production facility based in Yarwun, Gladstone. This is a 6-month casual assignment with the likelihood of extension or permanency. This position requires 12-hour shifts covering both days and nights to support the clients 24/7 operations.

As a Laboratory Technician, you will form and integral role in ensuring product quality is maintained. Primarily responsible for receiving, testing and analysing samples and maintaining lab equipment.

PLEASE NOTE: Applicants will be required to undertake a full medical assessment; drug screening and police check to be eligible for this role.

Duties:
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment according to operating guidelines using SOPs, supervisory input, instrumentation and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Record all data and results in specified formed with accuracy and responsibility
  • Perform laboratory sample preparation and analysis according to standard procedures, make observations and interpret findings
  • Troubleshoot issues with laboratory equipment and assist with process plant issues

Skills/experience:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science/Chemistry or significant experience within a laboratory environment  
  • 2 years’ experience within a chemical handling/process laboratory environment
  • Experience with SOPs and regulatory standards
  • Experience and knowledge of quality management systems and processes
  • Excellent attention to detail
