About the CompanyThis Australian-based laboratory services organisation operates highly specialised testing facilities supporting the fuels, petroleum, lubricants, and broader industrial sectors. In addition to laboratory testing, the business maintains and supports a wide range of complex analytical and laboratory instrumentation critical to regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and research outcomes.
Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to join their technical service team. This is a hands-on, field-based role suited to a technician who enjoys autonomy, technical depth, and working directly with customers and laboratory environments.
The position involves site-based work across Sydney, frequent interstate travel, and some international travel as required.
Key Responsibilities- Perform installation, commissioning, calibration, preventive maintenance, and repairs on laboratory and analytical instrumentation at customer sites
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, electronic, and software-related faults
- Provide on-site and remote technical support to customers via phone and email
- Complete service documentation, reports, and records in line with company and ISO requirements
- Support in-house service jobs, workshop repairs, and instrument preparation when required
- Liaise with internal teams and suppliers to resolve technical issues and source parts
- Assist with pre- and post-sales technical support, including demonstrations and customer training when required
- Represent the organisation professionally on customer sites at all times
Please note: This role involves frequent local and interstate travel, with occasional international travel. A fully maintained company vehicle will be provided.
Skills and Experience- Trade qualification or tertiary qualification in Mechatronics, Engineering, Electronics, Chemistry, or a related discipline
- Proven experience servicing laboratory or analytical instruments in the field
- Strong fault-finding skills across mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems
- Experience working in industrial, petrochemical, refining, or laboratory environments
- Ability to work independently while managing a busy travel and service schedule
- Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach
- Willingness to travel regularly and work on-site at customer locations
