About the role - We are seeking a Senior Process Engineer to lead the design, optimization, and implementation of chemical and production processes. This role is crucial in improving plant efficiency, ensuring safety, and managing capital projects.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager this role is based in the western suburbs of Melbourne.
About your duties - - Support project activities as part of the team managed by Project Manager and/or Senior Project Manager.
- Works under limited supervision for routine situations
- Assist in the management of small to medium size projects (team typically less than 5 people; low to medium project complexity and technical complexity).
- Prepare and seek approval of Capital Expenditure Proposals, as instructed.
- Raise and administer purchase orders for supply of goods and services.
- Assist as directed in the preparation of key project management documents.
- Aid as directed in maintaining the configuration management system during project activities.
- Assist in or manage as directed construction activities.
- Develop and maintain collaborative external relationships with external consultants and contractors to aid in the delivery of projects design and construction activities.
- Bring Project elements together to achieve commissioning of equipment on budget and in line with PM expectations
About you - - Bachelor’s or master’s in chemical engineering or related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in chemical or related process industries.
- Proven track record in project leadership and manufacturing improvements.
- Strong knowledge of chemical engineering principles and process simulation software (Aspen Plus, HYSYS, CHEMCAD).
- Extensive experience with hazardous or corrosive (HAZOP) chemicals
- Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) and regulatory compliance.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
Preferred -- PE (Professional Engineer) license or working toward certification.
- Experience in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or automation systems.
