Working within the Minerals Processing team, you'll be responsible for preparing mineral samples for metallurgical testing using specialised laboratory equipment. While this is a laboratory-based role, approximately 70-80% of your time will be spent carrying out hands-on sample preparation activities rather than analytical testing.
You'll receive full training from an experienced team member before taking ownership of the role independently.
Duties:- Prepare mineral and geological samples for testing
- Operate crushing, milling and sample preparation equipment
- Manage sample receipting, storage and inventory
- Prepare samples for analytical and metallurgical testing
- Package and dispatch samples safely in accordance with Dangerous Goods requirements
- Maintain accurate records using internal databases and spreadsheets
- Assist with housekeeping and maintaining laboratory equipment
- Work closely with project leaders to prioritise workloads
Skills & experience:- Sample preparation or sample receipt
- Environmental, mining or materials testing laboratories
- Asphalt, construction or geotechnical testing
- Laboratory technician positions
- Manufacturing or production environments involving laboratory work
You'll also bring:- A practical, hands-on approach to work
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- The ability to work independently after training
- Basic computer skills
- A willingness to learn new equipment and obtain high-risk licences if required (Forklift, Dogman license)
- Australian Citizenship (required)
A science qualification (TAFE, Certificate, Diploma or Degree) is advantageous but not essential.
