About the RoleWe are seeking multiple Risk Managers, who will support the assessment of agricultural chemical products, within established policy frameworks. This will be a
6-month contract with an
immediate start. In this role, you will work collaboratively with team members to manage your workload and ensure applications are processed within required timeframes.
This role requires sound scientific judgement, strong stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to apply regulatory risk assessment principles in a structured decision‑making environment.
Key Responsibilities- Consider scientific advice and relevant legislation to make recommendations to decision‑makers on the registration of agricultural products
- Evaluate scientific and technical information using principles of regulatory risk assessment
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Resolve issues in a timely and appropriate manner
- Prepare correspondence and contribute to briefs, manuals, reports, guidelines, and policy material
- Manage confidential commercial information in accordance with governance requirements
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, guidelines, and broader Australian Public Service requirements
Selection CriteriaTo be successful in this role, candidates will demonstrate:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant scientific discipline such as biology, agricultural or horticultural science, entomology, weed science, pharmacology, toxicology, or physiology
- Knowledge of, or the ability and willingness to develop knowledge of, the regulatory environment and legislation relevant to agricultural chemicals, including the application of risk assessment in a regulatory context
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to provide advice on scientific matters
- Ability to manage and prioritise a complex workload while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines
- Maintain and build effective stakeholder relationships
- Work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
