About the role:                
Our client is a world leader in the development and supply of microencapsulated functional food ingredients, omega powders, emulsions and nutritional oils, with sites based across Australia. On behalf of our client, we are seeking a Research & Development Technician to join their Brisbane-based team, on a permanent basis.
This role will support the Research & Development team in the qualification and development of new raw materials, commercial products, technologies and applications.

As an R&D Technician, your role will be hands-on operating and maintaining benchtop and pilot equipment, as well as supportive through completion of administration tasks, so advanced computer skills are essential.

Reporting to the Innovation Manager, your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Produce concept products and application samples utilising internal R&D benchtop and pilot equipment as directed by R&D Technologists
  • Operation, maintenance and cleaning of benchtop and pilot plant equipment
  • Coordinate and maintain records of the calibration and routine maintenance of R&D equipment by external parties
  • Utilise internal analytical equipment to conduct testing of trial and commercial products as directed by R&D Technologists and QC Chemists
  • Participate in laboratory housekeeping including monitoring and restocking of laboratory consumables
  • Assist in the raising and receipting of purchase orders in QAD ERP system
Skills & Experience
To be successful for this role, you will possess the following:
  • Diploma in Food Science/Technology (or related Scientific discipline) from a recognized tertiary institution
  • Minimum 1-year recent experience within the food manufacturing industry
  • A good understanding of dairy liquid and/or spray-drying processes will be well regarded
  • Previous experience operating and/or maintaining food production equipment will be well regarded
  • Willingness to work flexible hours to fit in with project work
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Capable IT skills & experience using the MS Office suite
  • A good team player
  • High level of motivation and initiative
  • Demonstrates a willingness to be coached and accepts feedback as part of a commitment to professional growth
  • Full unlimited working rights are essential (Australian PR/Citizenship)
