About the company/role:

Our client is a growing packaging manufacturer located in the Western suburbs of Melbourne. They are seeking a Production Supervisor to join their NIGHT shift on a casual or permanent basis to start ASAP.


Duties:

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be primarily responsible for:
 
  • Directly manage all shift activities including but not limited to safety, cost, efficiency and quality.
  • Engagement of the shift team through skills development, coaching and Performance Management.
  • Maintaining shift compliance with operating standards, safety standards, company policies, quality specifications, regulatory requirements, and Lean Manufacturing practices.
  • Monitor plant performance, quality, and costs.
  • Lead troubleshooting and problem solving for the team when out of standard conditions arise.
  • Communicate effectively with team, operations manager and technical support functions for daily operational and breakdown issues.
  • Coordinate maintenance schedule and assign repair tasks as needed.
  • Effectively complete all administrative tasks for the shift and other assigned administration for the plant.
  • Lead the shift in the development and implementation of areas for improvement.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to other team members wherever possible.




Skills/experience:
 
  • Strong supervisory experience with mechanical aptitude, preferably along with a relevant Engineering or Trade Qualification
  • 5+ years prior experience
  • Lean Manufacturing Certificate or equivalent experience
  • Production management leadership experience  
  • Ability to lead and motivate your team whilst working alongside them
  • Strong focus on safety and able to apply methodologies to improve processes
  • Results driven
  • Experience operating and maintaining new machinery and with HMI interfaces
  • Experience leading a team in troubleshooting and resolving problems to the root cause
  • Exposure to automation
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Can work and participate effectively in a team environment
  • Good written & verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail with a degree of flexibility
  • A commitment to quality
