About the company:
We are seeking a motivated and mechanically minded Die Setter / Tool Change Technician to join a growing plastics manufacturing team in Moorabbin.
This hands-on role is responsible for carrying out mould and tooling changeovers, machine setup, equipment connections, and production support across our injection and compression moulding operations. The successful candidate will work closely with supervisors, maintenance personnel, and production teams to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality manufacturing outcomes.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a mechanical, plumbing, fitting, or toolmaking background who enjoys problem-solving, working autonomously, and operating in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform mould and tooling installation, removal, and changeovers.
  • Connect and disconnect water, air, hydraulic, and utility hoses.
  • Set up machines and equipment for production runs.
  • Assist with injection moulding and compression moulding operations.
  • Conduct machine adjustments and basic troubleshooting.
  • Support production teams to minimise downtime and improve efficiency.
  • Follow production schedules and changeover plans.
  • Maintain high standards of safety, housekeeping, and quality.
  • Escalate equipment or process issues when required.
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors and production personnel.
    •    Assist with continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing

Skills & Experience
Essential
  • Mechanical aptitude and hands-on technical ability.
  • Experience working in manufacturing, industrial, mechanical, plumbing, fitting, maintenance, or toolmaking environments.
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
  • Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Physically fit and comfortable working around industrial equipment.
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
Desirable
  • Experience in plastics manufacturing.
  • Exposure to injection moulding or compression moulding processes.
  • Toolmaking, fitter and turner, mechanical maintenance, or plumbing experience.
  • Rigging, forklift, crane, or material handling licences.
  • Experience performing machine changeovers and production setups.
