About the company:
Our client is a leading Australian environmental services organisation operating complex waste treatment and resource recovery facilities. Focused on safety, sustainability and continuous improvement, they are seeking a Process Engineer to join their Homebush operation on an ongoing contract, with a potential to go permanent. 

About the role:
This hands-on role will see you working closely with Operations and Maintenance teams to optimise plant performance, improve process efficiency and support reliability across waste treatment, autoclave and thermal processing systems.

Duties:
  • Monitor and optimise plant and process performance.
  • Troubleshoot process and equipment issues and identify root causes.
  • Assess the impact of waste composition, pressure and temperature on plant performance.
  • Identify equipment deterioration, corrosion and potential failure points.
  • Develop practical solutions for repairs, modifications and process improvements.
  • Support major maintenance shutdowns, including refractory lining repairs and plant modifications.
  • Work with instrumentation and PLC/control systems to improve plant reliability.
  • Analyse operational data and prepare technical reports and recommendations.
  • Ensure all work complies with site safety, permit and operational requirements.
Skills/experience:
  • Engineering degree in Chemical, Process, Mechanical, Environmental or related discipline.
  • 3+ years' experience in a process engineering role within an industrial environment.
  • Strong process troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with process control and instrumentation.
  • Background in waste management, chemical processing, energy, oil & gas, petrochemical or other heavy industries highly regarded.
  • PLC experience and exposure to high-temperature processes, combustion, incineration or autoclave systems advantageous.
