Process Controls Engineer role focused on automation, software development and process optimisation to support commercial-scale STEM manufacturing ops.
About the company/role:
  • Opportunity to join an innovative engineering and technology environment transitioning from R&D to commercial Silicon manufacturing.
  • The Process Controls Engineer will support the design, programming, commissioning and optimisation of industrial control systems.
  • Working closely with the Operational Technology Engineer, this role provides the interface between physical equipment and digital control systems.
  • Key focus on improving process safety, efficiency, stability and repeatability while minimising manual intervention.
  • Permanent Monday to Friday
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop and maintain PLC software for industrial and research systems.
  • Develop and support custom .NET/C# applications.
  • Assist with specification, procurement, installation and commissioning of control equipment.
  • Implement and support process automation and functional safety systems.
  • Develop and maintain process monitoring tools, historian databases and dashboards.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement, process optimisation and production scale-up activities.
  • Ensure compliance with cybersecurity, safety and operational requirements.
  • Due to government restrictions, Australian citizenship and ability to gain NV1 security clearance is essential
Skills/experience:
  • Degree-qualified Engineer in Mechatronics, Biomedical, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Several years of post-graduate industry experience within engineering, automation or manufacturing environments.
  • Strong coding and software development capability is essential.
  • Experience with PLC programming and industrial process automation.
  • Experience with C#, WPF and Git.
  • Knowledge of SCADA, HMI, Linux, Docker, InfluxDB, Grafana or industrial communications protocols would be advantageous.
  • Experience within STEM industries such as medical devices, advanced manufacturing or industrial technology environments highly regarded.
  • Strong communication, documentation and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively while also operating autonomously.
