About the Role
Our client, a leading Queensland Government organisation, is seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Officer (PO4) to join the Coomera Connector Stage 1 project team based in Nerang.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to one of South East Queensland's most significant transport infrastructure projects, playing a key role in environmental approvals, assessments, compliance and project delivery.

Working closely with the Project Manager and multidisciplinary project teams, you will provide specialist environmental expertise throughout the design and planning phases of the project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high level environmental advice on Commonwealth and State legislation, including the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act).
  • Support the delivery of environmental approvals, permits and offsets.
  • Review environmental assessments, surveys, spatial data, Public Environment Reports (PERs), contract specifications and audit documentation.
  • Identify environmental risks and constraints and work with project teams to implement practical solutions.
  • Provide specialist advice on environmental compliance, management and sustainability outcomes.
  • Coordinate environmental offset programs and project land management activities.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders, government agencies, local councils and external advisors.
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports, briefing notes and correspondence.
  • Represent the project at meetings, working groups and stakeholder forums.
Skills & Experience
  • A Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management or Natural Resource Management from a recognised tertiary institution or equivalent qualification is mandatory.
  • Current holder of a 'C' class driver’s license.
  • Experience delivering environmental approvals and compliance activities for infrastructure, transport, construction or government projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Commonwealth and Queensland environmental legislation, including the EPBC Act.
  • Experience reviewing environmental assessments, reports and technical documentation.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Strong written reporting and project coordination capabilities.
  • Criminal history screening will be conducted on the recommended person for this role.
