About the company: Our client is a leading Australian environmental services organisation operating industrial waste treatment. They are seeking a Tank Integrity Engineer / Inspector to manage the inspection, condition and ongoing maintenance of approximately 1,200 tanks across their Australian operations.
About the role: This is a national, field-based role responsible for ensuring storage tanks remain safe, compliant and fit for service. You will coordinate inspections, review and interpret findings, prioritise safety-critical assets and make sure identified repairs and maintenance actions are completed.
The ideal candidate will come from an engineering, asset integrity or inspection background, however experienced Boilermakers, Welders and Mechanical Fitters with strong tank experience will also be considered.
Duties:- Coordinate scheduled tank inspections across multiple Australian sites.
- Conduct and/or support internal and external tank inspections.
- Review inspection reports and interpret findings.
- Identify corrosion, leaks, weeping, deterioration and other integrity concerns.
- Prioritise safety-critical tanks and required maintenance actions.
- Recommend and coordinate tank repairs and maintenance.
- Maintain inspection schedules and compliance records.
- Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, contractors and inspection providers.
- Support repair activities and ensure identified actions are closed out.
- Manage different tank types and materials, including steel and polymer tanks.
- Ensure inspections and maintenance meet site safety and compliance requirements.
- Travel regularly to sites across Australia.
Experience:- Engineering qualification in Mechanical, Materials, Chemical or related discipline highly regarded, or a trade background such as Boilermaker, Welder or Mechanical Fitter with strong tank inspection/maintenance experience.
- Experience with industrial tanks, vessels, asset integrity, inspection or maintenance in oil & gas, refineries, fuel terminals, petrochemical, chemical processing, waste or heavy industry.
- Strong understanding of corrosion, deterioration and mechanical integrity, with the ability to interpret inspection findings and determine practical repair actions.
- Comfortable working in confined spaces and industrial environments with a strong safety focus and permit-to-work awareness.
- Able to work independently, coordinate across multiple sites, and travel nationally on a regular basis.
