About the role
An opportunity is available for an experienced Laboratory Operations Officer to support trace inorganic and trace organic testing across environmental and food or biota samples. This role suits a technically capable laboratory professional who enjoys working within a regulated, quality‑focused environment and contributing to a collaborative team.

Key responsibilities
  • Assist with the registration, preparation, and analysis of environmental and food or biota samples to support trace inorganic and trace organic testing
  • Prepare and analyse samples in accordance with documented QA and QC procedures
  • Ensure compliance with NATA accreditation and GMP requirements
  • Work collaboratively within the laboratory team, prioritising workload to meet agreed turnaround times
  • Provide mentoring, on the job training, and technical guidance to team members across multiple analytical methods and laboratory instruments
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to resolve routine operational matters, including:
    • Coordinating service calls with equipment service engineers
    • Obtaining quotes for laboratory consumables from approved suppliers
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to workplace health and safety by applying the WHS Manual and laboratory‑specific safety SOPs across Organic and Inorganic Chemistry laboratories
Skills, knowledge, and experience
  • Demonstrated ability to independently complete sample registration, preparation, and analysis in inorganic and organic chemistry laboratory environments
  • Proven and current experience in data processing and accurate reporting of analytical results
  • Strong understanding of QA and QC requirements within NATA‑accredited and GMP compliant laboratories
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment to achieve shared operational goals
