Evolve Scientific is currently supporting a Global Oil & Gas Operator in seeking two experienced Laboratory Analysts to join them on Barrow Island work as part of the core plant operations team. This position is a 14:14 roster for an initial 2-year contract.  

Description:

The Laboratory Analyst is a key member of plant operations, responsible for both laboratory work and on‑plant sampling. They collect and analyse routine and non‑routine fluid samples to provide essential data for daily operations, long‑term plant management, and regulatory compliance with NOPSEMA, DMP and environmental licence requirements. Their work supports pipeline and asset integrity, well management, and operational decision‑making.

Cargo verification, certification and process allocation are critical samples and analyses that are used to assign costs to export cargoes and the Joint venture partners. Understanding and meeting these contract requirements is a key part of the analyst’s role to ensure that the client does not breach or incorrectly assign value to their partners.

Sampling activities are high‑risk and demand strong technical competence, process understanding, and specialised training. Analysts must hold at least a science degree or diploma and have knowledge of LNG processes.

Analysts will collectively sample and analyze all process and utility facilities including the upstream subsea onshore utility processes, Domestic Gas plant, storage and loading facilities for Condensate and LNG, Utilities, Subsea, Inlet facilities, condensate processing, LNG Trains and CO2 injection facilities.

Scope of work:

HES
  • Actively understands and complies with all HE&S protocols on site.
  • Proficient in the use of use of JHA’s when carrying out tasks associated with core duties
  • Uses correct PPE at all times and ensures that everyone in the workplace uses the proper PPE
  • Communicates and actively owns the closure of HES issues
  • Proficient in the permit to work system and SIMOPS activities to safely access plant areas
  • Ensure all competencies and training are completed and current
  • Complete handovers to ensure the B2B can safely continue the role in the next swing
Plant Sampling and measurement
  • Be proficient in the plant operational areas for sampling under operator routine duties or permits
  • Sample process fluids (gas, water, condensate, process chemicals and other) as required by the operations team and the plant sampling schedules.
  • Be competent in the plant Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for sampling
  • Utilize portable online analyzers for infield measurement as required by operations
  • Lead operations in the use of portable online analyzers and maintain and calibrate for operations use.
  • Support start-up and commissioning activities as required
  • Work with plant teams (ops, Maint, FE) to manage the routine and non-routine sampling requirements
  • Work with the QMI teams to validate the online plant analyzers with independent measurements
  • Develop a familiarization of each of the unit processes of the plant.
  • Work with the maintenance teams and CMMS to maintain the sample panels on the plant.
Laboratory Operations
  • Analyze plant samples for the required parameters in a safe, timely fashion.
  • Ensure continued compliance with the Laboratory Quality Management System and ISO17025 requirements
  • Maintain area housekeeping to ensure a safe and clean operational environment
  • Perform all maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting on laboratory instrumentation
  • Generate and report results for the plant in LIMS
  • Ensure all laboratory analysis, reporting and record retention is conducted to ISO 17025 terms of accreditation
  • Operate the LIMS as a Laboratory User
  • Work on the development of analytical methods to support the plant testing requirements.
  • Ensure all procedures are current and changes managed through the documented control systems
  • Actively contribute to development and training of peers within areas of competence/specialty.
  • Maintain equipment, stock and chemicals in the laboratory
  • Accountable for the procedures for the equipment of the assigned core area.
  • Be actively involved in the continual improvement of the laboratory
  • Be Proficient in the CVX relevant business tools (Ariba, JDE, etc
Cargo Certification
  • Responsible for the sampling of gas and condensate cargoes for the lifting process
  • Monitor and analyze the domestic gas streams to verify the online analyses.
  • Analyze and report results for the certification of condensate and gas cargoes for the Bills of Lading.
  • Understand the contractual lifting agreements and the processes associated with export.
  • Communicate any export issues immediately with the superintendent
About you:
  • Must hold at least a science degree or diploma
  • Have strong knowledge of LNG processes.
  • Previous experience is desirable
