About the company: Our client is a highly regarded scientific organisation delivering research and commercial solutions to the resources industry. They work closely with industry partners to develop innovative and sustainable processes for mineral treatment and environmental management.

About the role: 12-month contract Laboratory Technician role sits within a specialist Minerals team, supporting experimental programs focused on mineral processing and treatment. You’ll assist scientists and engineers by conducting lab-based work, preparing samples, and ensuring accurate, reproducible results across a variety of projects.

This is a fantastic entry-level opportunity for a chemistry graduate or junior lab professional to build hands-on experience in a highly technical and regulated environment. This position requires an Australian Citizenship and security clearance.

Duties:
  • Conduct leaching, titrations, precipitation and sample extraction
  • Prepare and handle mineral samples with high attention to detail
  • Set up and operate laboratory equipment
  • Accurately record experimental data (GLP environment)
  • Follow strict safety and contamination control procedures
  • Support project-based experimental programs
  • Assist with pilot plant trials where required
Skills/experience:
  • Degree or diploma in Chemistry or related discipline
  • Some hands-on lab experience (university or industry)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures
  • Exposure to wet chemistry techniques (titrations highly regarded)
  • Understanding of safe chemical handling practices
  • Willingness to work in controlled environments (incl. low-level radioactive materials)
  • Basic computer skills (Excel/spreadsheets)
