Lab Operations Officer

About the company/role:
Based in the north of Sydney, this well-known government contract testing laboratory is looking for a Lab Technician to support technical and new development projects to expand the business capabilities within the food, health, and environmental testing market. The role is a full-time 12-month contract role.

Responsibilities include:
Assist with sample registration, preparation and analysis of environmental and food/biota samples for inorganic and organic analyses. 
Prepare and analyse samples following documented QA/QC procedures 
Provide mentoring, on-the-job training and guidance on a range of analytical testing methods and instrumentation to team members.
Liaise with stakeholders and assist to resolve issues (communicating with the service engineers to schedule service calls, obtaining consumables quotes from the suppliers)

Skills & experience:
Tertiary qualifications in Chemistry or related field
Experience with sample registration & preparation of environmental/food samples
Knowledge of QA/QC principles and practices within a NATA accredited laboratory
Good communication and organisational skills  
Strong work ethic with good people skills
Australian citizenship is required for this role
