About the company/role:
Evolve Scientific Recruitment is proud to partner with the Mount Isa Water Board (MIWB) to assist in sourcing a Graduate Laboratory Technician to join their team on a permanent, full-time basis.

As a Graduate Laboratory Technician, your primary responsibilities will include conducting laboratory analyses of water samples, verifying and validating online water quality instruments, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards to maintain high standards of water quality and compliance through their Drinking Water Quality Management Plan (DWQMP).

Duties:
  • Perform sample collection and laboratory testing to ensure regulatory and operational compliance.
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments, ensuring accuracy and precision in testing.
  • Report non-compliant results and maintain accurate records.
  • Assist in preparing reports and presentations on compliance and quality performance.
  • Coordinate compliance audits and risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with external contractors, consultants, suppliers, and regulators.

Skills/Experience:
Mandatory:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science, or equivalent bachelor’s degree.
  • Current driver’s license (automatic or manual).
  • Knowledge of laboratory processes and data analytics.
  • Intermediate skills in software applications for documentation, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, integrity, and honesty.

Desirable:
  • Knowledge of potable water services, and the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines (ADWG).
  • Experience with entities regulated by a water supply regulator in Australia.
