About the Company/Role:
Our client is an Australian technology company focused on the commercialisation of innovative laser enrichment technologies for applications including Uranium enrichment (green power generation), Silicon-28 enrichment (Quantum computing) and medical isotope enrichment (emerging radiopharmaceutical therapies).
 
The Engineering Manager is responsible for providing engineering management, project management, and leadership of technical and engineering staff.
 
Responsibilities include:
  • Working closely with the senior technical team regarding engineering and technical decisions.
  • Planning and executing engineering development projects (resourcing, scheduling, engineering budget, and staffing requirements).
  • Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), providing formal reports as required on project progress.
  • Supporting the CTO in the development & implementation of new technology and engineering initiatives.
  • Engineering assessment and validation of in-house built and externally procured equipment.
  • Support in the hiring of technical and engineering staff.
  • Oversee implementation and administration of QA/QC strategies in support of commercialisation activities.
  • Liaising with key mechanical contractors and managing critical activities.
  • Oversee design management of laser enrichment technology mechanical equipment and associated systems.
  • Management of the mechanical engineering team in the construction enrichment technology equipment.
Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Australian Citizenship required.
  • Experienced in mechanical design processes with the ability to interpret complex technical designs and scientific concepts.
  • Experience in a technical/engineering leadership role working with diverse technical teams.
  • Experience with project management – planning, execution and management of required tasks.
  • Excellent and effective verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and the ability to take strategic direction.
  • Ability to identify and execute key project tasks through to completion with a continuous improvement focus.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office specifically Microsoft Project experience.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to identify business and technical risks.
  • Ability to implement mitigation methods and identify potential project problems.
