About the company/role: The company is a well-known government organisation undertakes leading edge research in nuclear science and technology and provides specialised advice to government, industry, academia and other research organisations. The Design & Innovation Manager will play a key role in the collaboration, facilitation, and development of innovation initiatives. This position is well-suited for someone who has studied innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship and has experience running independent projects.
Lead design ideation, design thinking workshops, experiential learning activities, consultation, and bespoke innovation projects.
Manage the Design Factory - engaging with other partners in the Design Factory Global Network on collaboration initiatives.
Provide coaching on co-creation processes.
Oversee day-to-day operations of the innovation center (entrepreneurship programs, resource allocation, budget management and facility maintenance).
Manage end-to-end project lifecycle for new initiatives/implementations.
Build and maintain relationships with staff, industry partners, academic institutions, local community and innovation center members to facilitate collaboration and partnerships.
Contribute to raising the profile of the innovation center.
Identify and seek funding partners for the innovation center.
Facilitation of design programs, mentoring, hackathons, guest speaking and excursions.
Mentor and manage operational staff.
Skills & experience:
Degree in Innovation, Design or related field is beneficial
Australian citizenship required due to security clearance requirements
Extensive experience in leading design-driven innovation, facilitating workshops and delivering experiential learning
Strong understanding of design thinking methodologies
Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
Ability to maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders
Experience in leading a team
Experience driving cross functional collaboration and managing team dynamics
Passionate about emerging technologies, design trends and innovation methodologies
