About the role:
  • Our client is a long‑standing Australian manufacturer specialising in precision‑machined components for a wide range of industrial sectors.
  • Based in Braeside in Melbourne’s south‑east.
  • Full‑time permanent opportunity within a stable and supportive team environment.
  • Monday to Friday, 6am-2pm. 
About your duties:
Reporting to the Production Manager, your key responsibilities may include
  • Programming and operating CNC lathes, including machine setup, tooling, and workpiece preparation
  • Interpreting engineering drawings and ensuring components meet required tolerances
  • Performing quality checks and maintaining high standards of accuracy and workmanship
  • Troubleshooting machining issues and adjusting programs or setups as required
  • Maintaining safe work practices and contributing to a clean, organised workshop
  • Supporting continuous improvement and sharing knowledge with team members
  • Working autonomously while collaborating effectively within the machining team
  • Assisting with general machining tasks as needed, including occasional manual machining
About you:
  • Trade‑qualified CNC Machinist, Fitter & Turner, or equivalent
  • Proven experience programming and operating CNC lathes and/or mills
  • Working knowledge of G‑code 
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to safety and quality
  • Able to work independently, use initiative, and solve problems on the job
  • Team‑oriented with a willingness to support and mentor others
  • Reliable, self‑motivated, and eager to continue developing your skills
