About the Company:
Our client, a growing environmental testing laboratory, is seeking an experienced Chemist to join their Sydney team. This is an excellent opportunity for an analytical chemist looking to further develop their career within a technically focused laboratory environment.

About the Role:
Reporting to senior laboratory staff, you will be responsible for the analysis of environmental samples, operation of analytical instrumentation, quality control activities, and ensuring laboratory turnaround times are achieved.
This role will focus heavily on the detection and analysis of environmental contaminants across soil, water, and related environmental matrices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyse environmental samples including soil, water, and contaminated land samples.
  • Operate and maintain GC-MS, GC, and LC instrumentation.
  • Perform sample preparation, extraction, and analytical testing.
  • Process and review analytical data and QA/QC results.
  • Conduct routine instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Support method improvements and laboratory efficiency initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory quality and safety requirements.
About You:
  • Degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Environmental Science or related discipline.
  • 3-5 years' laboratory experience.
  • Strong hands-on GC-MS experience (essential).
  • Environmental testing experience (preferred).
  • Experience identifying and analysing contaminants, organics, hydrocarbons, chlorine compounds, or similar analytes.
  • Reliable, technically capable, and able to work independently.
Highly Regarded:
  • NATA-accredited laboratory experience and/or ISO 17025 exposure.
  • Experience using LIMS.
  • Experience with Shimadzu, Agilent, or Thermo instrumentation.
  • Method validation, verification, and optimisation experience.
  • Instrument troubleshooting and maintenance experience.
  • Technical data review and QA/QC interpretation experience.
