I am currently partnering with a pharmaceutical client on a search for a Business Unit Director (BUD) to lead one of their key business units. Incumbent would be responsible for leading and driving the strategic, commercial, and operational performance of the assigned pharmaceutical business unit in Thailand. This role will oversee the development and execution of commercial strategies to achieve revenue growth, market expansion, and profitability while ensuring compliance with regulatory and corporate standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1) Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement the overall business unit strategy aligned with the company’s regional and global objectives.
- Identify growth opportunities, including new product launches, portfolio expansion, and market development.
- Drive long-term strategic planning and ensure execution of business objectives.
2) Commercial Performance
- Own the P&L responsibility for the business unit.
- Achieve revenue, market share, and profitability targets.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to identify opportunities and risks.
- Ensure effective forecasting, budgeting, and financial performance management.
3) Sales & Marketing Leadership
- Lead the development and execution of commercial strategies across sales, marketing, and key account management.
- Optimize sales force effectiveness and market coverage.
- Oversee brand strategy, lifecycle management, and promotional activities.
4) Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with medical affairs, regulatory, market access, supply chain, and finance teams to ensure successful execution of business strategies.
- Partner with regional and global leadership on portfolio and pipeline development.
5) Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), healthcare institutions, distributors, and regulatory authorities.
- Represent the company in industry associations and key external engagements.
6) Team Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing commercial team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Build leadership capabilities within the business unit.
Requirements:
- Minimum 12–15 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
- Prior experience in senior strategic commercial leadership roles.
- Proven track record of managing P&L and delivering strong commercial growth.
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical regulations, market access, and healthcare systems in Thailand.
