Analytical Chemist

About the company/role:

• Food testing laboratory located in the inner suburbs of Melbourne
• Seeking an experienced Analytical Scientist
• 12 month casual contract
• Full-time hours

Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, your responsibilities will include:

• Perform extraction and analysis of food analytes and nutritional compounds in food matrices.
• Operate and maintain laboratory instruments (GC‑FID, HPLC, LC‑MS/MS)
• Prepare sample sequences, acquire data, and conduct limited processing using software 
• Process instrument data, check QA/QC results, and ensure compliance
• Report results accurately within LIMS in line with NATA requirements.
• Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment according to NATA and quality procedures
• Prioritise workload to meet target turnaround times for client needs
• Undertake other duties as directed by the supervisor.

Skills/experience:

• Bachelor of Science majoring in Chemistry or a related discipline
• 2 years' experience working in a similar role analysing food-related matrices using instrumentation (HPLC, GC-MS, LCMS)
• Strong analytical knowledge and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent time management and organisational skills
• NATA experience would be highly advantageous
