About the company/role:

  • Casual contract with high potential to extend or view to go permanent for the right candidate
  • Full-time hours, Monday-Friday

Duties include, but not limited to:
  • Perform the required daily analytical work for the efficient, effective and safe operations 
  • Carrying out sampling and analysis in accordance with equipment and process guidelines, safety manuals, maintenance manuals and any other policies and procedures
  • Conducting laboratory work for digestate, feedstock, fertiliser, pathogens and metals
  • Ensuring that the laboratory, equipment and pilot plant areas are always clean, safe and well maintained
  • Coordinate the taking of samples in a timely and scientifically sound manner
  • Ensuring that feedstock delivery is in accordance with EPA regulations and licenses
  • Understand the underlying science of the anaerobic digestion and fertiliser production process
  • Enter data into software
  • Understand the plant systems alarms where laboratory analysis needs to be supplied to help resolve issues
  • Manage the chemical inventory and storage system
  • Manage laboratory spares system
  • Recording and reporting any OH&S incidents
  • Report any breakdowns of equipment which cannot be easily rectified by lab staff
  • Supervision of other laboratory staff (including students) from time to time
Skills/experience:
  • Tertiary education in Science majoring in Biology, Microbiology or Chemistry. PhD or Masters will be highly regarded
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment is ideal
  • Understanding of the R&D environment
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Passion and eagerness to learn and ability to multitask
